Firm Summary

Hi. I’m Jim Beauchamp, and I practice law in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’m originally from Stillwater, where I met and married Fran. After we graduated from OSU in 1965, we moved to New Orleans where I attended Tulane Law School. In 1968 I graduated from Tulane with honors, then moved to Indianapolis to begin my two year Army career. I spent my second year in Vietnam as part of the Engineering Corps, where I worked for the commanding general, defended soldiers in various court martials – from possession to murder – and taught classes for the University of Maryland.
Following Vietnam, Fran and I moved to Dayton, Ohio, where I practiced with the law firm Bieser, Greer and Landis for seven years. While living in Ohio, Fran and I welcomed the births of our two oldest children, Greg and Colleen.

In late 1977, we relocated to Oklahoma, where I joined the firm of Miller, Dollarhide and Beauchamp. I stayed there for two years, then moved to Tulsa to become general counsel of a publicly held firm. Our youngest son, John was born in 1980, after which I decided to open my own firm.

I am listing some accolades, which are written in traditional third person language:

James H. Beauchamp is author of several articles both in this website and in professional journals, and two books which are available at Amazon. He was editor of The Tulsa Lawyer, 1989-91, and received Outstanding Contribution Awards from the Tulsa County Bar Association for the years 1990 and 1991.

Mr. Beauchamp was a member of the board of directors for the Tulsa County Bar Association from 1989-91. He has served as a Director of the Tulsa IP Forum and also served as director of the Oklahoma Planned Giving Council. He currently serves on a legislative committee of the Oklahoma Bar Association, which submitted modifications to the proposed Uniform Trust Code. He was selected as one of 13 Oklahoma ip lawyers, in the April 2011 Oklahoma magazine, who scored highest in overall satisfaction (lawyers were rated by financial services, professionals and clients).

He has been a lecturer for NBI Seminars on the topics of Family Limited Partnerships in Oklahoma, a Practical Guide to IP, Advanced IP Techniques in Oklahoma, How to Draft Effective Wills and Trusts for Your Clients in Oklahoma, and Key Issues in IP and Probate. Mr. Beauchamp received the Bronze Star Medal in Vietnam.
