Ms. Frankel began the practice of law in 1978, after clerking for a Judge for two years in the Hamilton County Ohio Court of Common Pleas. Jan is a trusted advisor to clients in the areas of ip, elder law, retirement planning, charitable giving, and estate and gift tax. Additionally, she works with families on all aspects of estate and trust administration. She cares about her clients like family personally guiding them through the legal aspects of their unique situations. As a practicing lawyer for 42 years Ms. Frankel has had a wide array of experiences and contacts that make her an invaluable partner to her clients.

Ms. Frankel is an Ohio State Bar Association Certified Specialist in IP, Trust and Probate Law. She is active in the IP, Trust and Probate Section of the Ohio State Bar Association, and is a longstanding board member of its Section Council. Jan is also a member of the Cincinnati IP Council. She has been selected for inclusion in Ohio Super Lawyers® annually since 2007 and has been selected for inclusion in Top 25 Cincinnati Women Lawyers. She has been included in the Best Lawyers in America which recognizes the top 4% of attorneys in the country. She continually has an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell. She is a past chair of Wood + Lamping’s Estates and Trusts Practice Group. Jan received her BA from Stephens College and her JD from Northern Kentucky University.

Jan lives in Wyoming, Ohio with her husband, John Cobey and has two grown sons. Jan is a past board member of the American Jewish Committee, The Hillel Foundation of the University of Cincinnati and Rockdale Temple. Ms. Frankel has been active on the Planned Giving and Development Committees of the Cincinnati Zoo, the Children’s Home, and Walnut Hills High School. She has been a board member of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and Cedar Village Foundation, a healthcare and retirement community.

Jan is currently Vice-Chair of the Jewish Home of Cincinnati, a grant-making organization committed to advocating for seniors needs by investing in innovative programs and services. She is also on the steering committee of StarPoint Home Care which provides non-medical home care services helping individuals live with dignity and respect whether at home, in a hospital, or in an assisted living facility.
